H&N International Celebrates 80 Years of Genetics and Innovation

Cuxhaven, Germany – October 2025 H&N International proudly unveils the latest edition of its annual company magazine Facts That Figure, marking a milestone year: 80 years since its founding by Arthur and Mary Heisdorf. This special edition pays tribute to the company’s rich legacy in poultry genetics while showcasing its forward-thinking innovations and global impact.

A Legacy Rooted in Passion

The cover story, “All I Wanted Was to Raise Chickens”, features excerpts from founder Art Heisdorf’s personal memoirs, offering a heartfelt glimpse into his journey from a city boy in Milwaukee to a global pioneer in poultry breeding. His dedication, alongside Mary Heisdorf’s tireless support, laid the foundation for H&N’s success. Their legacy continues through the Mary C. Heisdorf Scholarship, supporting future poultry scientists at the University of Wisconsin.

Global Expansion and Local Impact

H&N’s commitment to global development is evident in its support for the “First 1000 Days of Life” nutrition programin Honduras. In collaboration with HOI, OneEgg.org, and the International Egg Foundation, H&N donated 1,500 Super Nick pullets to help combat malnutrition in remote communities. The initiative aims to provide daily eggs to over 100 families for 1,000 days, supporting maternal and infant health.

Innovation in Hatchery and Technology

New team members like Kelly Brannan, Global Hatchery Specialist, and Jon Urkiola Becerril, Project Development Manager, bring fresh expertise to H&N’s mission. Brannan emphasizes the importance of hatchery optimization, while Urkiola leads the implementation of KAI, H&N’s intuitive farm management software, offering turnkey digital solutions for egg producers worldwide.

Scientific Breakthroughs in Nutrition

H&N continues to push boundaries in poultry science. In partnership with Evrenkaya Yumurta, H&N’s research on amino acid intake and egg size customization is revolutionizing feed strategies. The findings show that egg size can be precisely controlled through diet, offering producers flexibility and profitability.

Celebrating Excellence: The Arty Awards

Two outstanding producers were honored with the Arty Award for Best Commercial Layer:

  • Avícola Pechichal (Ecuador) for exceptional performance with H&N Brown Nick.
  • An anonymous breeder in the Netherlands whose H&N Super Nick flock achieved 565 eggs at 111 weeks, setting a new benchmark in longevity and productivity.

New Markets and Global Talent

H&N expands its global footprint with new distributors in Zambia and Vietnam, and welcomes key experts like Dr. Mikhail Malyshev (Russia & CIS) and Ana Caselles (Brazil & Central America), further strengthening its international network.

Looking Ahead

As H&N International celebrates eight decades of excellence, the company remains committed to its founding principle: “Your success is the center of our universe.” With cutting-edge genetics, global partnerships, and a passionate team, H&N continues to shape the future of poultry production.
