Weight gain slows during this period. That is especially true for the weekly percentage increase of body weight. However, the growth rate must be always maintained throughout this period.<\/p>

Most of the skeleton and muscular systems have already been formed by now.<\/p>

On the other hand, fat disposal improves during this period. A correct fat level in the body is necessary to achieve the production peak. Over fat females will face many issues in production (prolapse and pecking late in production) while overfat males could have fertility problems. Avoid over-fattening.<\/p>

The feed intake is higher than in previous weeks. The birds may be given a more diluted feed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      Feed intake training<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      During the last week of the rearing period, the nutritional requirement is not very high. However, it will change dramatically in the first weeks of production. To help the hens deal with this challenge it is beneficial to train them to increase their feed intake during the end of the rearing period.\u2028To do this, try:<\/p>

      • Diluted feed:<\/strong> From 10 to 15 weeks, it can be useful to switch to a feed (2700 Kcal, 15% BP, 4.5% fiber) that promotes feed intake.<\/li>
      • Feed distribution program:<\/strong> Allow hens to empty the feeders completely during the day.<\/li>
      • Move feed for the next day.<\/strong> Once a week, you can withhold feed in the afternoon (20\u201330 % daily ration) and feed it the next morning instead. Check for uniform distribution and do not reduce the two-day ration.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        Even with good hatchery practice, some males will be confused with females and will be delivered and vice versa: some females will be delivered as males. such.
